Minutes later, after the children went in with Doctor Irons, the high-end family car pulled up to park by remote. Seconds later, Tyler got out, hiding behind the car door to peer up at the abandoned and heavily damaged former institution warily...

"I'm here."

"Well," the Revenant's voice replies from the dashboard, "the Second Amendment gives one the right to bear arms, but the language has many debatable—"

"Not that!" Tyler shoots back towards the dashboard. "The kidnapper thing!"

"I thought children liked funny people."

[basic_powers]

"So what now?" Tyler starts digging around in his belt pouches..where did he put that headset?

[justiceoverlaw]

The Revenant's tone becomes more businesslike—teacherlike, in fact. This could be just another tutorial.

"Let's practice our detective skills. What do we know about this place?"

[basic_powers]

"Hang on, I'm switching phones." Tyler replies, pulling out the microphone bud from his helmet and getting the channels set in his helmet's headset. "Uh...Harold and the kids are in a broken down old building, nobody's in the van."

"Is that all the people in the building?"

[basic_powers]

"Yeh there's..." For several moments, Tyler's brain flashes a warning sign from his latest round of nightmares. "No!"

"Doctor Irons is in there, too!"

[justiceoverlaw]

"Indeed." The Revenant sounds approving, not surprised. "It might interest you to know that this is where his body was most likely destroyed. Now, what do you know about the kids' powers?"

[basic_powers]

"Not much," Tyler admits, he didn't do that much investigative work aside from listening into the Rainmaker classes conversations to find out a few identities. Especially after Dominic's prediction. "Uther can make stuff into food. Vern's a healer. Orchid can make plants grow. And I think Steve's powers have something to do with music... oh! And Marvin can put people to sleep."

"Very good." Gold star! "He's also got Zach in there, who can tunnel through earth, Vera, who can recall the past about anything she touches, and Kathy, who can reconstruct or repair physical objects almost instantly."

[basic_powers]

"And Lyle, he's the one who.. knows stuff." A pause. While he had been talking to the Revenant, Tyler had been sneaking down into the hallway to get a better look at things. "Wait, is Hestia with them, too?"

[justiceoverlaw]

"No, and that's a lucky break for us, I think. Apparently, Harold didn't think it was safe to bring her along, so he had Marvin put her under for a while."

[basic_powers]

"Why is that a lucky break?"

[justiceoverlaw]

"Well, when we go in uninvited, that could be thought of as breaking the rules of hospitality, which gives Hestia power. That's her bailiwick, it seems."

[basic_powers]

"Oh yeah. Good thing." Tyler replies, looking around at everything in the dilapidated building.

Really, he's trying to fight the creepy feeling he's getting, and mostly succeeding.

"Why are you whispering? You didn't go into the building, did you?"

[basic_powers]

"I'm being quiet." He raised back defensively, without too much whine in voice before he remembered Revenant didn't know about the medallion. Yet. "I don't think Harold would hurt me, even if he caught me. And I thought it would be important to see what they're doing."

The voice from Tyler's earphone is unusually frustrated. "Moon Shadow, you're forgetting Doctor Irons. He may be only a head, but from what I read about his past, he's resourceful. Stay put until I catch up with you."

...Yeah, good luck with that. Moon Shadow is going to be wandering further inside now.

"This is where they kept Harold?"

Even if everything inside of this building wasn't broken down and forgotten...the walls were still grey, grim and...well. Bleak. If the colors were different, it kinda looked like the school almost.

Institutional, perhaps, is the word he's looking for.

"It was an ill-conceived project. But given the times, I understand why it was approved. It's also why Harold would think PS238's Rainmaker program was a recreation of the one he was in."

The rapid chud-chud-chud and the windy noise that have been a constant background to the Revenant's voice begin to slow and fade.

"So he thinks he's saving the kids from being prisoner or something?" Tyler whispers back, having spotted a doorway with light coming through it in this dark building and investigating. If he strained his ears, he could hear voices, but too distant and muffled to make out any details. "Why does he think that?"

"My guess is he was helped along with his fears."

"Helped? You mean- ...oh."

[justiceoverlaw]

"Moon Shadow? What is it?"
