If they're dreamers, they want bouncy castles and pony rides and giant tigers.

If they're the children of superheroes, oddly enough they still want those things, but you can't find a good pony that resists nuclear radiation as Tyler's learned. So, in the interest of keeping things simple and within his budget, a party has come together in the backyard of the house of one Augustus Fenwick.

Inside, there's plenty of soda in the fridge, and bowls of chips, dips, crackers, pretzels and ofcourse candy and little paper favor bags. The coffee table between the couch and TV already has one large present wrapped in brown paper (decorated with green watercolor cats) and an absolutely HUGE box wrapped in a myriad of wrapping papers next to it.

Outside in the fenced backyard is a good sized stick, branch and log structure, waiting to be set on fire as soon as the sun really starts to set, and that isn't that far off as the afternoon sunlight reveals. There's a kid in a black trenchcoat that looks about eight sizes too big poking about said structure as Tyler holds open the door for the guests. And decorating the walls, counter top are little decorated brown-paper flags saying 'Happy Birthday Nepeta!" in green letters.

So what if your host is a very ordinary looking nearly-10 yearold boy? There's still other party guests to meet, like the kid in the trenchcoat who has by now noticed everyone entering from the closet.

Karkat has shoved himself into a corner and is quietly observing the shenanigans. In the human disguise, he more or less fits in, although his awkward posture will always set him apart; he looks like he is ready to be attacked, with the collar of his dark corderoy jacket snugged up tight around his neck. There is a box jammed under his arm; it looks like it would be hard to get it out of there with a crowbar.

...for a moment, Tyler's too busy herding the other guests and refilling the snack bowls. He manages to walk by Karkat twice before the third charm proves enough to make the kid pause mid-step and blink quizzically at him.

Kanaya is enjoying herself so far, though while she watches the proceedings interestedly, she's not entirely sure on how to insert herself into them.

She is, however, keeping a close eye on the birthday girl in question. Karkat would skin her alive, if she let anything happen to their friend. There are also people to be rescued from inbound pouncegreets. Not everyone is able to stand an incoming catgirl.

Fortunately, Kanaya is completely able to stand an incoming catgirl.

That's about to be a very good thing, in three ... two ... one ...

Eventually Kanaya'll find herself being joined by Tyler along the vantage point she's picked out. He's looking a little tired, but generally, that's par for the course.

They both have people to watch over, though in Tyler's case it's more... trying to keep Cecil from trying to stalk some guests.

She is being eyed very suspiciously by an apparent-human; Karkat is, however, easily identifiable by his dress sense. Same grey cargo pants, same chunky black shoes, and apparently the same long-sleeves black t-shirt, under the black corduroy jacket.

He gives her a cautious nod.

William felt odd about coming but parties are nice when they can happen.

He's left his hat in Milliways and has a small package tied with some twine for Nepeta, he wasn't really sure what to get her. As he enters, he looks around to see where Tyler is as he knows Tyler.

Tyler is...well it looks like he's applying burn ointment to some other kid's black leather trenchcoat for the moment, but that's soon enough done. Then he's headed back into the party, leaving Cecil and his coat to nurse their wounds in privacy.

"...hi Will!"

Ako has her present held awkwardly in both hands due to it's bulk as she comes to the party.

"< Let me help you with that Ako-san. >" Tyler's there in a moment, looking as tired as ever, but more than well pleased.

Nepeta is clearly having the time of her life.

Julie nervous as she steps in and not just because these are new people she's never really met. She also decided to attend mask and costume-less which is just really weird...and freeing in a way. Without the mask and cape, no one will know she's a super hero and no one will ask what her powers are. She free to just be Julie and that feels neat...scary but neat.

Well, there's one person she knows here, right? That's something at least.

Well, Julie isn't the only one attending the party incognito. ... sort of.

Backyard and bonfire!

There's a generous fenced-in suburban yard out here, complete with a few yard games, bushes, chairs and a hammock all safely spaced away from the firepit.

So come on, weither you want to play tag, lawn darts, lounge around, or get those marshmallows, hot dogs or hamburgers toasting up over the fire, there's plenty to do.

The outside is nice and green and neat, William has a moment of staring before he heads towards the fire.

Of all the games he can see the only one that looks familiar is what might be horseshoes but he's not sure.

Nepeta bounces up to him happily.

Julie has always loved lawn darts and so she's over there playing. She's very careful no one is near before she throws.

Here it is, the moment you've all been waiting for.

It's dark enough outside now that the fire is the strongest source of light.

That is until someone comes out with the lit birthday cake. Mint chocolate chip ice cream cake to be precise.

That's right boys and girls, it's time for cake and presents! Undeniably the BEST parts of any party.

CAKE. AND. PRESENTS. Either of those alone would be cause for rejoicing, but together it is closer to something like rapture.

Nepeta has been coached about blowing out the candles; she manages it in one go, and proceeds to carve up the cake into slices with alarming efficiency and glee.

And somewhat later, she's tearing open wrapping paper in much the same fashion.

(Even if she isn't using her claws for either.)

Karkat is waiting and watching nonchalantly, pushing his slice of cake around with increasing agita as she gets close to his little white unwrapped box.

It's not like he's nervous or anything.

The other kid in the black trenchcoat is watching Nepeta unwrap the huge multi-paper wrapped box with brief glances at Tyler. He hasn't quite touched his slice of ice cream cake yet, though his friend has gotten halfway through his slice.
