Gotham City visit, day 2.
It's morning. Actually to clarify things, it's morning in Gotham City, set in the apartment of Dinahs Lance, Snr. and Jnr. There might be birds outside, or that low soft whistling might be the house guest, having found some eggs to fry up for breakfast, while the morning wake-up aroma of fresh coffee spreads through the apartment.
Despite the very late and unsociable hours of conciousness last night, their house guest found himself rising with the dawn as per certain habits. Namely those of 'getting people fed' and not becoming the recipient of the ice-water wake up call.

"She might just be taking it easy on that leg."
And the Lance women are well known for taking good care of their injuries.
no subject
"Not the taking it easy on her leg, thing. All I can hope for is that Superman wouldn't let her come home if she was in any danger of making it worse."

That or the Man of Steel doesn't know Dinah Jnr. very well yet. Because Beauford is not entirely convinced she will, but there is as they say, little he can do about it.
"Well I think I'd better get what supplies can be got before you have to open up."
That way he can make meals and lunch for them while Dinah Snr. runs the shop. And if there's enough time and energy afterwards, another trip out for more supplies.
"How do you feel about an african inspired stew for lunch, chilis, tomatoes, peppers, a little bit of peanut butter, chicken, and squash over rice?"
no subject
"That sounds delicious," she says. "How about I have this coffee and get dressed to take you down? Make a list of everything you need."
no subject
"By the way, do you know any good pawnshops or cash for gold places in town?"

He's going to hold up a little bag of something that goes clink in a satisfying way.
"Well, I earned a -lot- of tips with my ice cream booth at the last party. Coin from the Italian renaissance, 5 gold coins and a good bakers dozen of solid silver."

Because quite frankly, as big a history nerd as he is, you'd have to steal it from him. Or pry it from his cold dead hands.
He knows where the bikes and helmets are anyways.

She rinses her empty coffee cup in the sink and turns back towards the master bedroom. "Make your list."

"Ready, then?"
She holds the door for him.

Coins tucked into an inner jacket pocket, notebook of supply lists in the outer pocket of the zippered denim jacket.

"You want to come inside with me?"
no subject
You know, see if she recognizes.it. Detective habits die hard.

"I'd like to know what sort of price you'd give me for these.." He's pushing one of the gold and four of the silvers across the counter.
no subject
"Where did you get these from?"
no subject
no subject
"Well," he says, "I've never seen coins like this before. If you want to find their historic value, you'll need to see an antique dealer. I can pay you for the value of the metal."
no subject
If the pawnbroker had asked, he'd have found out how much a nerd Beauford is. One long babbling spree of the history of the Florida Coastline and the Changing Course of Mighty rivers.
no subject
"I'll have to check, but I figure these silvers will be worth about two twenty five, two thirty. Seven fifty for the gold. How many are you looking to seel?"
no subject
And even with underselling he's getting cash right now.
