As they exist from the narrow door of the linen closet for his apartment, Dinah will see two doors down the hallway to her left. One has a biohazard sign hanging from it, and the other is part-way open, enough that one can see the window and bed inside. There's a couple of photos hanging from the wall, one of Beauford and a blonde young woman laughing with the lights of a carnival in the twilight background, and one with Beauford and a reddish-brown haired man in a repurposed tan flightsuit, grinning in front of a college graduation ceremony.

To her right, she'll see that Beauford was infact not exaggerating at all about the shoebox size of his apartment's kitchen, as there is only a tiny island seperating it from the small living room. There's a well-used black futon and coffee table with a little black laptop on top of magazines and comic books. Against the wall there's a shelf with a flatscreen tv, several videogame consoles and a dvd/bluray player. Light filters through the curtain outside and Dinah can likely see the door out of the apartment with three bicycles hanging from hooks beside it on the wall, and pannier bags for the bikes hung with coats and hats from the coat rack.

It doesn't take much guessing to figure out that the blue and gunmetal bike is Beauford's from the homemade welds and adjustments given to it.

"Welcome to my humble bachelor pad...I'd give you the tour but this is pretty much it."

"......in her shoes, looking back at the blackmail....I think she beats herself up over it in private for having gotten caught. By someone who wanted to go after her."

There is no way in hell that Beauford is going to tell Dinah that her mother KNOWS about Milliways. But there's nothing saying that he can't get Dinah to thinking about talking about it with her mother.

"She just wants you to learn to be careful with what you say or do about certain things."

"Oh, right," Dinah says, relieved that her Mom wasn't holding back on something bigger than that which she told Beauford but not her.

"Well, we've stopped keeping secrets at work. That led to more problems than it prevented. I should have followed her example there; teams don't work without trust."

"I think any relationship has trouble working without some level of trust in it..." Beauford smiles, just a little sadly. "Then again, look at my track record..."

[raptorcanaria]

"...yeah," Dinah says sympathetically, remembering that conversation and that particular track record.

"I think, after Craig, and after John, I'm done with secrets in relationships. Even Mom lied to Dad for a while before they were married. I'm not doing that anymore."

"...are you going to tell your mom about our little hole in the wall bar?"

He's looking just a little hopeful and worried about that. It's going to be awkward enough telling Julie.

"And give her one more thing in my life she'll try to control?"

Please, Beauford. It's not hypocrasy if it's your Mom.

"I know what you're going to say - but I'd like to have one thing in my life that's mine."

"I doubt she's trying to control you Dinah..." Beauford sighes, stuffing his face with some of the seafood pizza.

Mhmmm..

"..good pizza, and good beer. It's little things like this that make a wonderful day."

"You weren't there when I was starting out," Dinah mutters, willing to drop the subject but determined to have the last word.

"This beer is good. I'm going to try this at the bar, I think."

"I'd really reccommend the Tei Ceti Sasparbeer if you ever get the chance to try it there." Beauford smirks over his beer. "It's like the sharper alcoholic cousin of Barq's rootbeer."

"Tei Ceti," Dinah repeats. "Got it. I usually just ask her to recommend something, which isn't always the most reliable of methods."

"Hey, she has a sense of humor, granted I've found some really neat new dishes from her as well." Beauford grins, having polished off two slices now, and showing signs of slowing down.

It's not a race, but an observer might be forgiven for thinking it were, given that Dinah's already helping herself to her third slice.

"She has a great sense of humour, if sometimes inappropriate. At least I can't blame her for the 'flu."

[basic_powers]

"...gah...that flu." Beauford shudders working on his third slice. "I think that came in on one of the patrons and never really left."

"Bet it lurks in the men's room with the graffiti over there."

"I do not want to."

Dinah stops herself, and swallows.

"Actually, I totally want to know about the graffiti in the men's."

...Beauford's eyebrows are going Orly at you Dinah.

"...all kinds of languages, and I'd say I only understand about 2 percent of the graffiti, and what little I do understand I ...well."

"Someone used to have the full lyrics for Eskimo Nell written on one of the stalls."

"You know, my Uncle taught me that one," Dinah says. "My Mom banned him from the apartment for a month."

"Aunt Romana made me eat soap after I refused to tell her where I learned it from." Beauford makes a face.

"Literally?" Dinah asks, surprised. "I didn't realise people still did that."

[basic_powers]

"Call her old-fashioned, ivory soap tastes horrible." He makes a face at the thought of it again.

"No phone numbers oddly enough, but I think that's more because of the bar itself."

[raptorcanaria]

"Yeah," says the pre-cell Dinah. "Where're you going to phone people from?"

[basic_powers]

"Exactly." Beauford smirks, finishing off his beer and the fourth slice of pizza. "Ooof....I think I'm ready for the doggie bag..how about you?"

[raptorcanaria]

"Let me just finish this slice," Dinah says, although she has slowed down. "We can get the rest boxed."

[basic_powers]

"And then I think we'll take one of the scenic trolleys back...good slow ride." Beauford waves for Kelly again.

"Boxes please, I think we're done."

"Ofcourse, i'll be right back."

"Oh, nice," Dinah agrees. "We can see the scenery with little to no effort."

"Exactly, and after all the effort of today.." Well, by then Kelly's brought back a pizzabox and he's neatly putting all of the leftover pizza into it, handing 35 dollars over to Kelly. "Keep the change."

With that...they're back out at the street again.
