Toronto, Canada, January 15th 1935: Exact Location Unknown: Red Panda Lair

After an examination at the musuem, it wasn't long before Tyler was politely blindfolded and put into the backseat of the car. It isn't anything new, and he really understands the need for secrecy, even if currently he has all the directional and navigational ability of a drunk seagull in this town, the duo DOES need to keep their lair (or is it lairs?) a secret.

He's still trying to figure out everything else aside from getting home in his head as the drive starts, going over the times in his head. He left in the afternoon, was still on afternoon time when it was late-night in Toronto and unfortunately despite Constable Parker's best efforts, he didn't sleep well last night.

Suffice to say, the boy is jetlagged to heck and back as the adrenaline rush of finding out his friend is ok wears off.

Which is why, much later (after another musical sting) the boy is fast asleep in the back of the car and snoring into his elbow as the car pulls into the lair.

"We'll do what we can to make you comfortable here," says the Red Panda as he guides Tyler down the dimly-lit passage into another cavern, smaller than the first. This one is full of filing cabinets, stand-up bulletin boards covered with maps and newspaper clippings, and tables piled high with odd gizmos that wouldn't look out of place in Dr. Positron's lab. "We don't make a habit of entertaining guests."

"Not like you guys had any warning that I was coming here," Tyler says, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes, and looking around at his surroundings a little more closely. "Thank you for putting up with me, sir."

"Uh, Boss?" the Flying Squirrel pipes up. "Where exactly is he gonna sleep?"

"Mmm. Good question. I think we have some spare space in one of the storage caverns..."

"You want to put him in a closet?"

"Unless you have a better idea."

"...storage it is, then."

"If it's got a bed, warm and has enough space for me to practice in..." A moment to think. "It doesn't have any bats or magic mirrors does it?"

"We don't stash the magic stuff," says the Squirrel. "That's Dr. C's department, not ours. I'll getcha a cot."

"Okay. I was just making sure."

Now... Maybe now's a good time to ask some questions. "Mr. Panda sir, is it okay if I ask you a couple of questions?"

"That would depend on the questions."

"Well I have a couple about the world actually. And what I'm supposed to do while we wait for Dr. Chronopolis to look over the coaster."

"From what the Flying Squirrel has told me about you, I think we can trust you to stay in the Lair unsupervised--for the time being, at least," the Panda replies. "On the whole, it's the safest place possible for you. Few people know that the Lair even exists, and only the Squirrel and myself are aware of its exact location. Of course, I can't permit you to leave..."

"Oh that part I understand. Mr. Revenant is the same way after I get picked up for weekend training with him. I just wanted to know if a guy called Mr. Extraordinary ever existed in your world. He showed up around 1920 in mine." Tyler replies. "And you guys probably won't notice I'm here often, I'll try and keep to the storage cave except for nesscessities."

The Red Panda frowns. "Mr. Extraordinary? I've never heard of a mystery man with that name. Or of this 'Revenant.'"

"He wasn't a mystery man, but he was the first recorded metahuman with the Flight, Invulnerability, Superstrength, Superspeed power set." Tyler explains. "He found his powers during the first world war, and kinda made the mistake about going public with most of them. And I kind of know his daughter Naomi from a history project. Last I knew they lived in Saint Louis."

"Mr. Revenant's from my time and world. He's a superhero that doesn't have superpowers, he uses gadgets and dectective work instead."

"Tyler, I studied under the greatest mystery men of my time. If this 'Mister Extraordinary' existed in our universe, I'd know about him."

"Just wanted to check." Tyler replies. "How many mystery men are around here?"

"In Toronto? Just the two of us," replies the Red Panda. "I don't play well with others."

That gets Tyler glancing in the direction Miss Squirrel went off in, and then back up at the Red Panda, with a smile of an entirely different vein.

Possibly there may be a giggle being stifled there.

"Tyler Marlocke, behave yourself."
