Au Hogwarts- Getting a broom

It's a couple of weeks before Tyler finds himself with the time and the free passage to find the Professor of the flying classes. Between avoiding Charles, pranking same said bully and working extra hard for Potions... Well there's only so much time someone gets really.

Not that it's stopping the boy from knocking on the door of the Professor Kale's office.

"Professor...are you in?"

It's silly enough that it gets a laugh out of Tyler at least. If a stable were built vertically, it probably would look a lot like this shack.

Kale would never hang students up by the astronomy tower to get their noses nibbled. No. His typical punishment involved sending them to help his brother clean out the owlry.

"Yea be thinking about maybe making a career of qudditch?" he asks as he walks among the brooms.

"Maybe, it's not a job that'd need me using a wand much is it?" He's got brains, reflexes can be trained, and he's got to have some courage if he ended up a Gryffindor. "Might just be fun to work up for the sport too."

"Wand usage was outlawed in mmm...1800s, I be thinkin'," Kale says cheerfully. "The Hufflepuff captain be making a go at professional qudditch playin'. Nae reason why yea can't, like."

He stops and picks up a broom, hefting it thoughtfully and looking over at Tyler.

"Best not make big plans before I take the first flights, sir." Tyler replies. "I know my dad loves Quidditch, didn't get to play for Gryffindor when he was here."

"Yer da' made a right mess of himself when he tried out," Kale said with a grin. "T'wasn't completely his fault though."

He takes another couple of brooms and walks back out.

"So he wasn't like a lead brick strapped to a broom after all?"

"Nah. More like a wet cat." He can tease if he wants to. "Let be seen'n yea on these."

...Tyler's going through the actions of raising the broom, mounting and taking off just like in class. After a while he does grin a little since this broom handles much better than the ones in class...probably for some good reason.

At about 10 feet off the ground he calls down to Kale.

"What do you want me to try out, sir?"

"Do yea feel like yea gonna fall off?" He's watching Tyler fly around, noticing how he moved and hung to the broom.

"No."

It's a simple answer for something as simple as that. He really doesn't feel like he's going to fall off of this one too easily, unless someone decides to take him off.

And just for fun he's going to try a few sharp turns in mid-air.

Well, the problem is that he has to use certain brooms for teaching the students and honestly they could use some serious repair and he has been doing that slowly... but it takes work.

"That be a good one then."

"Yeah!" Tyler's grinning now...before coming down to a light neat stop by Kale.

...please tell him he gets to keep this one. Even if it's just for practice.

"That be Rickety Tim?" He checks the tag.

"I think so, sir." Tyler replies. "D'you know any jobs I could get to try saving up for my own broom? Eventually?"

"I might be knowing one like," Kale says with a sly grin.

"...I'm listening."

He hasn't let go of that broom yet either.

"I be needing someone to be helping me repair some of the brooms like," he says.

...Grinning like that counts as a yes, doesn't it?

"When do you want me to come by and help? I've got Sunday afternoons open.."

"How about after lunch on Sundays? You can be keeping Rickety Tom with yea, if yea'd like."
