If they're dreamers, they want bouncy castles and pony rides and giant tigers.

If they're the children of superheroes, oddly enough they still want those things, but you can't find a good pony that resists nuclear radiation as Tyler's learned. So, in the interest of keeping things simple and within his budget, a party has come together in the backyard of the house of one Augustus Fenwick.

Inside, there's plenty of soda in the fridge, and bowls of chips, dips, crackers, pretzels and ofcourse candy and little paper favor bags. The coffee table between the couch and TV already has one large present wrapped in brown paper (decorated with green watercolor cats) and an absolutely HUGE box wrapped in a myriad of wrapping papers next to it.

Outside in the fenced backyard is a good sized stick, branch and log structure, waiting to be set on fire as soon as the sun really starts to set, and that isn't that far off as the afternoon sunlight reveals. There's a kid in a black trenchcoat that looks about eight sizes too big poking about said structure as Tyler holds open the door for the guests. And decorating the walls, counter top are little decorated brown-paper flags saying 'Happy Birthday Nepeta!" in green letters.

She beams. (It looks the same on her human face as it does on her troll face, weirdly.)

"Tyler did all the setting up. I have to remembpurr to thank him again."

"He's good at gettin' things done. Sure he likes seein' you happy too,"

That's how William feels when he can arrange something for his brother,

"Do you know how to play any of these games?"

[nepetaleijon]

"The darts, meowbe? Only I don't see anything to kill with them."

(Practicing marksmanship with targets that don't move and can't fire back isn't a thing Alternian children do much.)

"Probably like the darts at the Bar, sort of practice instead of huntin'. Do you do a lot of huntin'?"

He remembers she had a lot furs around her when they met before.

[nepetaleijon]

"Oh yes," she assures him. "Not so much as I used to, now that I can get food from the Bar, but still whenefur I can, to k33p in purractice. Do you?"

[not_his_pa]

"Yeah, it's always a good way to get fresh meat and we can't afford to kill our cattle unless one's dyin'."

[nepetaleijon]

"Cattle? Like musclebeasts?"

[not_his_pa]

"Um, four legs, horns, stupid, cows give milk and they all have good meat. Don't know if that's the same sort of thing."

[nepetaleijon]

"Sounds kind of similar. Except fur the stupid. Musclebeasts are smart."

And STRONG.

[not_his_pa]

"I'd hate to see a smart cow. They do enough damage when they're stupid. You ever seen what Ellen rides, the Brahmin with two heads? Cattle are like that but with only one head."

[nepetaleijon]

She shakes her head. "Who's Ellen?"

[not_his_pa]

"She's taller than you with grey hair and real nice. She's usually wearin' armor of some sort and sometimes practices ridin' her Brahmin out back,"

He's not good at describing people but once you meet Ellen, she's hard to forget.

[nepetaleijon]

She nods, committing the description to memory. "Maybe you could introduce us sometime?"

"I'll try to. She's a good friend of mine."
